About

Hello! And welcome to my page, my name is Ebony Harris. I'm a mother, wife, and contemporary artist living in the great southern region of Western Australia. Growing up in the country greatly influenced my love of nature, and this passion is reflected in all of my work.

From a very young age I loved art and everything creative. I studied art all throughout high school, exploring painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics and drawing. After high school I started to pursue painting, I had no idea what I was doing so there was plenty of trial and error. Since those early days of finding my feet, I’m proud to say I’ve held numerous solo exhibitions around the great southern. For several years I have entered in the southern art and craft trail at various venues, from cafes to wineries and restaurants all with great success.

People would describe my style as vibrant, colourful, contemporary art. I originally started off with landscapes that adopted a realist style. However, I’ve always had an affinity with flowers, so naturally I’ve become accustomed to doing still life florals from time to time. I draw inspiration from subjects around home, farmscapes, still life flowers, beaches and wildflower scenes when we go camping with the kids. I love to paint the Stirling Ranges, with its rugged bushland and array of native flowers that emerge in spring. Over the years my technique has become slightly expressive, with my brushstrokes more relaxed, something achieved through many years of experience.
